Eva Micklethwaite is a talented photographer, proud Art To Frames supporter and the brains behind Stillness In Life Photography. We took the time to ask Eva a few questions about travel, nature photography and her approach to bringing her images to life.
What circumstances led you to becoming interested in photography?
I am an avid outdoor enthusiast. Photography is my way of pausing life and finding my stillness doing what I love. One of my favorite photographers is Ansel Adam. His photography as simple as black and white would seem, is actually quite complex and full of color.

How does your love of travel inspire your photography?
I’m not certain if it’s my love of travel that inspires my photography or if it’s my love of photography that inspires my travel! The inspiration for me is attempting to capture the moment exactly as your eyes witnessed it. This for me mostly involves Mother Nature.

On your website you showcase many examples of your brilliant landscape photography. How do you go about your outdoor photo shoots?
Thank you for your kind words. My photo shoots per se are a circumstance of the environment or the activity I’m involved, so it could be a Jeeping trip, a backpack trip, or a Camino up the coast of Spain. I’m not one to sit still for long, so often times I find I must compromise that magical hour shot for silhouettes, sunrays and shadows in order for me to continue my journey that has brought me outdoors.
Custom Frames by Art To Frames
What is your approach in terms of bringing raw digital images to life with custom prints and frames?
I have printed many photographs and have gone to Art To Frames as my solution for most. My approach would probably be considered simplistic. I think about what media best suits the photograph and the needs of the personal request. For instance with Sparks of Fury I felt the texture of canvas was the best media to add depth to the drama of the sky and at the same time give texture to the shadowed rim. It turned out stunning thanks to Art To Frames.

What type of professional relationship do you have with Art To Frames?
I discovered Art To Frames several years ago. I have continued to use them for various projects. I have had both canvas and paper photography done by Art To Frames. I’ve even done a collage of words on canvas that turned out just awesome. I find the flexibility of building custom pieces the most convenient.

In your opinion what makes Art To Frames unique?
The framing and canvas apps where you can mat, frame, or wrap an image with numerous options creating that perfect piece.

What does the future hold for StillnessInLife Photography?
I’d hope to continue to grow as an artist to continue to learn new applications, and even improve upon the applications I already know. I love searching for what I call that “Pulitzer Prize” winner. I hope to always have the ability to pursue that elusive capture. Mostly, I want to continue to return to the source and experience the Stillness In Life.
